Free trade agreements
The UK has free trade agreements (FTAs) in place that can reduce restrictions on trade, making buying and selling easier and cheaper.
Trade agreements are made between two or more countries and set out the preferential rules for buying or selling goods or services between them. They benefit automotive companies who want to trade from the UK by reducing tariffs and other restrictions on trade.
For example, The UK-Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership reduces tariffs on auto parts used by companies based in the UK. The agreement also includes an automotive annex, aligning both countries’ regulations and other non-tariff barriers to trade.
