A Casino Hotel in Las Vegas faced difficulties with their energy efficiency. A brief analysis showed their air handling system was under-tensioned, operating with sub-optimal drive belts, and demonstrated poor drive efficiency overall.
An energy efficiency test was run in two hour intervals under a controlled environment with new belts receiving proper tensioning and alignment.
The five standard wrapped belts were replaced with three Carlisle 5VX Power-Wedge Cog-Belts and the worn sheaves were replaced with new, larger diameter sheaves. A belt tensioning program was implemented as proper tensioning is critical to satisfactory belt life and performance.
