J & E HALL LIMITED

Several large chillers play a key role in drugs’ manufacture at a large pharmaceuticals’ plant. The system, which operates in conjunction with specialist freeze driers, has been designed and installed by J & E Hall to control temperatures ranging from 50°C to -60°C during the course of a single production cycle lasting around six hours.

This wide variation of temperature is needed to ensure that all moisture is removed from the pharmaceutical products after manufacture before they are vacuum sealed and packaged for sale. The design and installation of the chillers – supported by HallScrew compressors – highlights the technical know-how and problem-solving ability of the J & E Hall contracting team who have gained a wide experience in working in the pharmaceuticals’ sector.

Apart from six HallScrew 3100 series compressors, the J & E Hall chillers have an oil separator, a water cooled condenser and two controllers - each capable of handling three compressors.
