The plan for other installations is to get the village elders to charge a small amount for the water so that the money can be used to pay for the maintenance and to be ploughed back into the economy for growing vegetables etc.
This village had problems with their hand pump so it was removed and Grundfos solar pump installed in its place.
At Ochereso a central distribution point was installed away from the borehole so contamination has been minimised. The flow and quality of the water from the village tap has transformed the village use of their precious water.
The well head above the borehole needs to be protected from contamination. This is a picture of the work in progress at Ochereso in the North District.
This solar system is at Anani krom near Agogo in the Ashanti region of Ghana. The pump is a high flow , low head model and has been in operation since 2014. The village are delighted.
