Commissioned course for the British Council, English for Education Systems

With this course, we aim to support you in developing skills to write high quality, engaging
content for young people. We hope that you will be able to motivate them to stay focused
on their language learning goals and continue to progress through the curriculum
from home.
During this course, you will learn how to:
• distinguish between regular radio programmes, classroom lessons and Interactive
Radio Instruction
• carefully consider your audience – who you are writing for
• think about what makes the medium of radio unique and how you can best use its
features to create engaging content
• create content which makes the best use of sounds available and develops key
listening skills
• adapt your English subject curriculum into radio programmes
• write lessons for radio
• consider production and marketing requirements that may impact how your scripts and
series of programmes are developed.
