TELENSA LTD

Wellington night time. LED and smart controls now installed across 17,000 street lights.

Wellington City Council

The Council’s streetlight infrastructure was becoming obsolete
and not fit for purpose, so the Council sought to upgrade their
streetlights to ensure a better service for decades to come.
Alongside early trials of LED street lights, Wellington saw smart controls as a way to maximise the benefits of LED in their programme for full city upgrade.
The Council researched lighting networks to see which best suited Wellington conditions. Telensa’s dedicated lighting network was chosen as made it possible for Wellington to connect streetlights over a wide area and hilly topography. It was recognised as proven, and with comprehensive functionality, and at a competitive price.

Kevin Turner, Transport Infrastructure Team Leaders say “The CMS is now fully operational and along with providing information for the public regarding known lighting and network supply faults, it is an integral part of managing the streetlight maintenance contract”
