CTG’s Dr Attridge was on hand at the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research in Kiel to integrate the sensors developed under the SenseOCEAN EU FP7-funded project. These were deployed from quayside & the RV Littorina. This was the first time that the sensors were incorporated onto the common communications interface developed under SenseOCEAN and led by CTG, which is a major step towards developing the integrated multi sensor suite. The overall aim of the project is to provide a significant advance in the ability to measure crucial biogeochemical parameters. Innovations in analytical sciences, new techniques for microfabrications, cost effective mass production and state of the art sensor technology are being combined to produce a modular sensor system that can be deployed on many platforms. The system can measure nutrients, micronutrients, the oceanic carbonate system, oxygen, nitrous oxide & chlorophyll at high precision/accuracy.
