Working closely with the leading main contractor on this project, the majority of this project consisted of upgrading the runway/taxiway services, and the transition from halogen to LED lighting in order to meet the airports energy efficiency targets.

Time-management is essential, and after consultation the airport agreed maximum results would be achieved by working once the final flight landed at 11.00pm. This ensured several hours of uninterrupted work, until the hand back process 4.30am, with full control to ATC by 6.00am every morning.

Using our own dedicated in-house project teams, the work encompassed a full re-wire of both the north and south runways plus transformer installation. Additional LED lighting was also installed to both lead on and lead off lighting and rapid exit taxiways. Other areas included various light fittings and signs; switching units and runway guard lights. Modifications to the AGL control system were also undertaken along with CCR upgrades.
