Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH)

• First major London hospital project to meet the Mayor of London’s challenging
sustainability targets
• Complex wayfinding context within dense inner urban hospital site, involving
retained and new buildings
• Creating natural light into patient areas within the compact site
• Providing carbon neutral environments for the treatment of sick children
while integrating visual arts, acoustic requirements, poetry and kinetics in
therapeutic settings for children, families and staff
• Designing for children and young people from new born to 18 years of age,
parents/carers, siblings, staff, visitors, donors, the general public and others was
a major a challenge
• Pressure on building services due tp restricted floor-to-floor levels to achieve a
modern hospital environment
