Implementation of GoRead (School Digital Reading Records)

GoRead - Book review page from the pupil app

A multi-academy trust serving schools within the city of Wolverhampton in the UK, have adopted GoRead during the autumn term 2020. This is in response to Covid-19 restrictions, where the transfer of books between home and school is discouraged, but with a longer-term vision that GoRead can engage and motivate readers.
Since adopting GoRead, all pupils are reading regularly and recording their reading activity which is shared via the platform with their teachers and parents. Pupils are encouraged to add words and phrases they struggle with and to complete a review of the books they have read. All reading material can be included, from formal reading schemes to digital and online content.
As the number of reading logs increases, the value of the data becomes increasingly valuable. Individuals, groups, and classes can be targeted for specific interventions and more detailed learning analytics can be used to identify specific groups of learners who may need further support.
