Hello Maritime Mile, Belfast, Northern Ireland

A family interacting with the Big Fish, on the Maritime Mile.
Hello Maritime Mile was designed to collect passive insights on tourists’ behaviours and their suggestions for the area. Regional partners like: The City of Belfast, Titanic Foundation, Tourism Northern Ireland and The University of Ulster, were involved. Historical sites within the Maritime Quarter were used: Titanic Belfast, HMS Caroline, SS Nomadic and The Great Light, which all become interactive reference points for visitors to strike up playful, engaging and education- based conversations on cultural and maritime history.
Our goals were: to support organisations in the area with digital tools to enhance visitor experiences beyond physical landmarks, increase visitor dwell times, drive footfall, increase spending and obtain feedback.
The project outcomes included: attractions are now more attuned to specific needs, visitor sentiment and satisfaction improved and the project won 'Best Use of Digital Technology to Improve the Visitor Experience' at the 2019 Northern Ireland.
