Britain's largest ground investigation contract

NuGen is planning to build a nuclear power station at Moorside in North West England. The new facility will be capable of generating up to 3.6GW – approximately 7 per cent of the UK’s electricity requirements.
The site investigation is the largest of its type undertaken under a single contract in the UK, involving careful integration of a range of land and marine drilling, testing and surveying.
Our geotechnical investigation provided an assessment of the ground conditions at the site and allowed the development of a geotechnical database and geological model to be created. The chemical and radiological characterisation of the site established baseline conditions and the significance of radiological and chemical impacts at the site.
