Description

The work consists of removing and replacing two (2) existing gas fired humidifier units. The units are in an existing concrete walled crawlspace mechanical room. The units are to be disconnected from existing steam discharge piping, gas piping, and water supply piping. The associated unit support stands are to be removed with the units. All associated venting and fresh air intakes are to also be removed and will require that existing furrings and ceiling penetrations be opened and access to facilitate the removal.
New specified humidifier units are to then be installed with custom stands and new venting and combustion air pipes are to be installed in the same locations as the demolished pipes were located. Furrings and roof assemblies are to be repaired to match existing and are to be made liquid tight.
Existing steam, gas, water piping is to be connected to the new humidifier units as required by plumbing code, gas code and the unit manufacturer’s instructions. New condensate drains to existing floor drains to also be provided. Install units as per mechanical design drawings. All existing downstream steam piping, dispersion wands, and condensate drainage from the dispersion wands are to remain. Place the two (2) new humidifiers into proper operation, adjust existing dispersion wands as required to provide humidity as per original mechanical design drawings. Interlock the new humidifiers controls to the existing digital control system and place the humidifiers into service.
