Description
The town hall in Bocholt was planned as a unified building for an administrative and cultural center on an artificial island in the Aa River. This dual function is reflected in the two-part architectural design of the entire complex: while the administrative wing was designed as a large-scale glazed grid construction with eleven green steel columns standing in the water on each of the long sides, the theater wing was designed as a closed, sculptural solid concrete building clad with light red bricks. Both wings of the building end at the top with a flat roof. In addition to the administration and theater wings, the six bridge entrances in their different designs are striking elements of the town hall, which is still a modern building today and is to be renovated in a way that offers the employees of the city of Bocholt optimal working opportunities, optimizes the function of the use and the building services and does justice to the originator. The high operating costs at the time are to be significantly reduced. The building is a listed building.
