Description

The special school association in the district of Düren is the school authority for 5 special schools located in the district with different special needs. Many pupils (SuS) with mental, physical and/or (impending) mental disabilities require integration support as school escorts, but often not as individual support. Experience in everyday school life in a classroom shows that the growing number of personal school escorts often hinders rather than promotes effective and self-determined learning for the pupils. The Social Welfare Office, the Office for Children, Youth and Family and the Office for Schools and Education of the district of Düren have developed the implementation of a pilot project "Systemic use of classroom assistants at special schools in the district of Düren" in an intensive discussion as a possible solution in order to meet the needs of pupils, parents and schools.
