Description

The basis for the award is the previously conducted feasibility study "Reorganization and structuring of the Branitz park landscape access on the city side and upgrading of the Branitz Park / Pyramid Level, Cottbus Zoo, Spreeauenpark and Park Railway / Zoo Station access points with special consideration of necessary tourist information" by the architectural firm Fiedler & Peter (15.05.2023). The new access situation is intended to make the Branitz park landscape even more attractive to tourists in view of its cross-border effect. For this reason, the installation of a barrier-free pavilion with a spacious, clearly laid out square is planned. The new square design is intended to create a connecting element between the individual parks (Tierpark, Spreeauenpark and Branitzer Park), which will more clearly arrange the pedestrian routes from the parking lot, the park railroad and the public transport stops and spatially define the recreation areas. The toilets are accessible both from the "public" side of the square and from the side of the enclosed Tierpark and Spreeauenpark. A unisex toilet and a barrier-free toilet with changing table are provided. As part of the INTERREG funding for the Tierpark / Parkverbund entrance area, the planning services for structural engineering measures are to be commissioned in stages, initially LP 1-3/4. This is a prerequisite for applying for funding for further planning and construction. This requires an approvable design plan. The construction work will be carried out while continuing to use the zoo, as it can only be reached via this one entrance and only limited alternative options are available. In accordance with the guidelines for sustainable construction issued by the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community, this construction project should also take into account aspects of economy, ecology, socio-cultural and functional quality as well as technical quality and process quality (no certification required). For example, accessibility in/on the building must be checked and the construction project must take into account energy aspects with a view to conserving natural resources - during the construction phase and during the period of use. The start of planning is scheduled for the beginning of the third quarter of 2024 with the aim of a short planning phase until the completion of the service phase. The further planning phases and realization will be dependent on further financing. The use of subsidies is planned for the realization of this construction project, which prescribes compliance with funding guidelines and rules of practice. The construction work (VOB services) will be awarded on a small-scale, trade-by-trade basis.
