Austria - Test and exploratory drillings

Description

At present, there is a sheet metal girder on track 1, built in 1904 across the Salzach with a subsequent truss across the state road L270, built in 1929, with a total length of 74.10 m. On track 2 there is the same construction built in 1915 with a total length of 80.10 m. The abutments and the piers of the supporting structures date from 1875/1929. In the course of the soil mechanics investigations in spring 2020, large-volume caverns were encountered during the test drillings in the area of the abutments Ri Salzburg at a depth of about 20 m. In order to prevent a possible softening of the overburden, which could lead to large-scale consumption, these cavities in the foundation area are now to be filled and stabilised.
