The planned construction measure with the planning project "Replacement of the Edingen viaduct and UF WW+DB+WW", is located in the federal state of Hesse, in the course of the motorway BAB 45 from Dortmund to Aschaffenburg, also known as Sauerlandlinie, within the district of Sinn in the Lahn-Dill district.Due to the distinctly moving terrain of the natural areas Unteres Dilltal and Dillwesterwald, the route characteristics can be described as adapted to the topography.Since the remaining useful life (RND) of the Edingen viaduct expires in 2029 due to structural deficits, the structure is to be replaced. Due to the spatial proximity and the resulting dependencies on each other, the two structures are combined into one project and planned and built together.The entire section of the route, with the goal of 6-lane expansion from the Haiger/Burbach junction to the Gambach interchange, is classified in the annex to the Highway Expansion Act in the urgent need with bottleneck elimination.The replacement of both structures is part of the overall measure "6-lane expansion between the Herborn-West junction and the Onsbach viaduct".
