The Realschule Hechingen was built in the 1970s. Due to its age, the façade is now in a damaged condition and needs to be renewed. Ceilings and parapet areas are made of reinforced concrete, the facade consists of wood-glass elements. The type and design of the new facades must be determined in the course of planning. After renovation, the façade must meet or exceed current energy standards. The desired energy standard is to be determined in the course of the planning process, and integrated systems for energy generation and storage (heat and cold) are to be considered and evaluated during the preliminary planning and selection of variants. The new facades must ensure that the rooms, especially the classrooms during lessons, can be supplied with sufficient fresh air. Within the framework of the preliminary planning, consideration must be given to the possibilities of natural or forced ventilation. A central ventilation system has been removed and is no longer in place; the radiators are located along the façade windows. These will probably also have to be replaced and modernised or re-dimensioned in the course of the project. In the course of the preliminary planning, suitable systems are to be considered and coordinated with the specialist planner on site. The existing building components in the existing building are contaminated with pollutants, in particular polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) have been proven. The pollutants (primary and secondary sources) must be professionally removed in the course of the renovation. In addition, the teachers' room on the ground floor is to be extended as part of the measures.
