Description
While in some onshore areas the Dutch subsurface data availability is excellent, there are still significant areas in the Netherlands with relatively poor data coverage. In these onshore areas, effective and economically feasible development of geothermal projects is not possible under the current circumstances. In this context, EBN has been asked to embark on a seismic geothermal exploration program (SCAN = Seismische Campagne Aardwarmte Nederland), which will comprise of the reprocessing of vintage data as well as the acquisition of new 2D seismic data in areas with low data density. As part of the SCAN project, EBN plans to acquire long-offset, high density 2D land seismic data, in areas (Areas a to I) where current data availability is relatively poor (Figure 1, Appendix 3). Appendix 3 also contains a map of the near surface geology model as well as the Elevation model of The Netherlands for illustration purposes.During the SCAN seismic data acquisition, it is anticipated that some 2,500 km of 2D seismic will be acquired between 2019 and 2023. It is the plan that the data will be processed as it becomes available, so rather than having all data available at once, the data will be processed per line (or per set of lines). In addition to any newly acquired 2D data, the scope of this processing framework agreement shall also include 2D land vintage data reprocessing. The possible reprocessing data can be either explosives or vibroseis acquisition, carried out between the early 1970s and mid-1990s. The nominal fold may vary from 15 to 120, and the maximum offsets usually range from 2 km to 4 km. Often identing of the raw field data may be required and the input data might be digital as ACSCII files or scanned paper observer logs or coordinate data. If and when such reprocessing will be required depends on the development of geothermal projects as well as the resultsachieved by currently ongoing reprocessing projects and their data evaluation. At the time of writing this RfQ, no onshore 3D seismic acquisition is planned. However, as EBN sees the possibility of acquiring small 3Ds for deep geothermal projects, the RfQ includes 3D onshore seismic processing services. As part of the SCAN project, EBN also plans to acquire one 2D shallow marine seismic line off the western coast of the Netherlands. In addition, the processing framework agreement shall also cover the processing of any new offshore 2D, 3D or 4D towed streamer acquisition data acquired for EBN for O&G exploration activities.EBN is also currently reviewing the seismic data quality of available vintage data for possible reprocessing projects in the Dutch offshore, either as partner in active production licenses or in open-block areas. As result of this review, EBN may embark on 2D or 3D offshore reprocessing projects in the years to come. In addition to the (re)processing of 2D, 3D or 4D offshore surveys acquired with towed streamer acquisition systems, the processing framework agreement shall also cover the processing of offshore 2D, 3D or 4D Seismic data acquired with Ocean Bottom Cable (OBC) or Ocean Bottom Node (OBN) acquisition systems.
