Description
This project is to implement the detailed design of the Hamilton Park Wetland. The goal of this project is to enhance the overall natural heritage and biodiversity of the site by creating and expanding wetland habitat, planting native trees and shrubs, and seeding with a variety of native seed mixes. Other enhancements include the improvement of grassland and riparian habitat, managing invasive species and installing nesting and habitat features. The project site is divided into 2 different sections: wetland creation and invasive species management. The first section is approximately 1.2 hectares and includes approximately 0.2 hectares of wetland enhancement along with some additional tree/shrub plantings and habitat structure placement within the project area. The second section is approximately 0.2 hectares and will extend throughout 2025. The work throughout this section includes the management and removal of phragmites west of the project location, and the seeding of a wetland mix in the newly exposed location.
