Description

Safety has become a very important aspect in the Netherlands in recent years. This also applies to public transport in Rotterdam, both for passengers and employees. For that reason, RET has drawn up a Social Safety Policy Plan on behalf of the Rotterdam City Region. Among other things, this plan led to the decision to place a supervisor on all streetcars in Rotterdam. The supervisor's main duties are to promote social safety in the streetcar, to check and sell tickets, and to provide service.
The deployment of the supervisor is part of a series of measures to promote social safety in the streetcar and reduce black market driving. The performance of the supervisor is supported by close cooperation with Safety Follow-up Teams (Public Transport Supervisor), the (sub) municipality(s), the police and the courts.
