Form of cooperation:
In terms of cooperation form, Hangzhou Medical College is open for discussion with UK partners interested, and happy to take partners’ suggestions, based on mutual respect and agreement. Below are possible forms to consider at the initial stage.
Primary:
• Chinese Ministry of Education-approved joint education institutions/projects
Others:
• credit recognition
• one-month short-term student exchange/summer camp
• doctoral student exchange
• English for Specific Purposes (ESP) training (English as a Medium of Instruction)
Intended joint education institute or joint education programs cooperation specialisations:
• public health (preventive medicine)
• medical imaging
• rehabilitation medicine
• pharmacy
• dentistry
Benefits for UK partners:
This provides an opportunity for UK universities to:
• establish a long-term partnership with HMC, with potential for expansion into other fields such as research, student exchange, faculty exchange, teacher training, etc

Areas of responsibility for the 2 collaborating parties:
The UK partner university will be expected to work with HMC to:
• develop the curricula for the joint programmes together with HMC
• provide qualified teaching staff for joint institutions
• award degrees to students
HMC will be responsible for:
• promoting and recruiting students
• providing qualified teaching staff as well as the required teaching premises and facilities
• awarding degrees to students
About Chinese College:
Hangzhou Medical College is a full-time public undergraduate medical school directly under the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province, founded in 1925. In 2019, it merged with the former Zhejiang Academy of Medical Sciences. The college has 4 campuses in Lin'an, Huanglong, Binjiang, and Qingshanhu, covering 957,175 square meters with a gross building area of 403,600 square meters. It has over 1,000 faculty members and more than 12,000 students, including junior college, undergraduate, and graduate students.
The college offers:
• three primary discipline Master's programs: basic medicine, public health and preventive medicine, and pharmacy
• three specialised Master’s degrees: public health, pharmacy, and biomedicine
• three national key clinical specialties: oncology, general surgery, and clinical nursing
• one provincial first-class discipline (Category A): public health and preventive medicine
• four provincial first-class disciplines (Category B): clinical medicine, basic medicine, pharmacy, and medical technology
• two provincial key academic clusters: minimally invasive surgery and biomedicine
• five national first-class courses
Hangzhou Medical College promotes international cooperation with 27 world-renowned universities, including Georgia State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, to broaden students’ international horizons.
