Description
In the field of "e-learning", the aim is to provide further training for digitally supported teaching, i.e. to support teachers in making use of the possibilities of digital instruments for their own teaching. It is not so much a question of teaching individual tools, but rather of using them in a way that makes sense from a didactic point of view. University work requires a maximum of targeted, empathetic and binding communication. The continuing education programme is primarily aimed at research assistants* (in the pre- and post-doctoral areas) of the University of Wuppertal who would like to qualify for the field of quality and science management or are already working in this field in addition to their scientific career. The continuing education courses in the area of "Communication in Studies and Teaching" are designed to impart basic communication skills for study, teaching and research. In accordance with the different and diverse fields of activity of the employees, different aspects should be taken into account in the subject area "Communication in studies and teaching". The success of university teaching depends not only on the subject matter but also on the didactic skills of the teacher. The participants* should therefore know methods, motivation strategies and learning-promoting behaviour in order to be able to conduct high-quality and efficient events themselves. The core business of every teacher is the presentation of knowledge in different forms. A harmonious media mix and skilful visualization bring content to the point in a way that is suitable for learning and appealing and increase individual learning performance. Today's everyday university life is more than ever characterised by diversity. The diversity of the students is reflected both in directly perceivable dimensions (e.g. age, gender, cultural background) and in individual (learning) experiences, skills, learning styles, knowledge, etc. Diversity-sensitive teachers recognize the diversity of students as a resource and use it constructively in their teaching. Subject area "Testing and Assessment":Examinations fulfil selective, didactic and motivational functions and are therefore an essential part of the course of study.Subject area "Student Counselling":Counselling students is an elementary part of basic university teaching and covers a broad spectrum of both subject-related and structural issues.Subject area "Developing Innovation in Studies and Teaching":Within the subject area "Innovation", the focus is on a written reflection at the end of the overall certificate, e.g. creation of an individual teaching portfolio. The term "teaching" is broadly defined, i.e. areas related to teaching such as consulting, committee work, examination support etc. can also be included. Alternatively, participants can elaborate their understanding of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) in the context of a teaching project. Topic area "Basics of Counselling Competence": In this module, basic knowledge of counselling competence (such as methods of "active listening", "mirroring", etc.) is to be imparted, which can then be expanded in the module "Consolidation of Approaches in Counselling" of your choice.Topic area "Deepening approaches in counselling": Here, different counselling approaches are deepened depending on the topics and areas of application of the academic staff First basic knowledge of counselling skills such as "active listening", "mirroring", etc. should have already been discussed in the previous module, so that the following workshop topics can build on this. The importance of leadership skills in science has increased significantly in recent years. For this reason, the BUW is expanding its services for professors and senior academic staff; in addition to individual coaching and consulting services, workshops are also offered. Concrete focal points are determined internally in line with requirements and can therefore vary within the scope of clarifying the order. The spectrum of content within this lot is particularly broad. Accordingly, it is not possible to list competence-oriented learning objectives in their complexity in the context of the call for proposals. The aim is to support the managers at BUW in their respective management roles. (University) work requires a maximum of targeted, empathic and binding communication, in a variety of constellations. Transactional analysis (TA) provides clear models and concepts to better understand the communication between two people, within a team, between teacher and student, between manager and employee. The further education programme is primarily aimed at academic staff in management positions (in the post-doctoral area) and professors at the University of Wuppertal; the module "Introduction to Transactional Analysis" is aimed at academic staff who would like to qualify for or are already working in the field of quality and academic management in addition to their academic career. Quality Management in Teaching and Learning": Within this module, participants work on issues related to the following focal points: quality, quality development, quality assurance and quality management in teaching and learning, quality control loops, programme accreditation, system accreditation, QE instruments, especially evaluation, and university and science management.Area "Feedback and Evaluation": The topic "Feedback and Evaluation" of the certificate "Professional Teaching Competence for the University" is relevant with regard to the interface to higher education didactics: Different focal points (methods of teaching evaluation, learning progress surveys, but also feedback instruments) can be set in the workshops. Whether in science management or in the field of quality - many work tasks in the university or science sector also show the typical characteristics of projects. Successful project work requires not only basic knowledge of project management, but also the ability for self-organization, ideal time management as well as communicative talent and professional handling of potential conflicts in the course of the project. The aim of the Project Management module is to prepare and impart the above-mentioned competences (if necessary with reference to examples from non-university practice) for use in research and teaching as well as in university management. It is specifically aimed at research assistants (in the pre and post-doctoral areas) of the University of Wuppertal who would like to qualify for the field of quality and science management in addition to their scientific career or who are already working in this field.
