Description

The Policy Unit in the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Development Cooperation and Africa Division (DCAD) provides support for policy development and planning across the Government’s development cooperation programme, Irish Aid. The Unit’s primary role is to provide overall policy direction and technical support for Ireland's development cooperation programme, in line with Ireland’s international development policy: ‘A Better World’. A consultancy service will be engaged to provide an external professional service and expertise for the Policy Unit. It is envisaged that the consultant’s responsibilities will cover the following areas: • Providing professional expert technical services to the Policy Unit in relation to nutrition policy and food systems, with a particular emphasis on technical issues • Specific expert technical services as required for DFA engagement in in countries where DFA has significant bilateral cooperation. • In the area of policy coherence in Sustainable Food and Nutrition Systems, support is needed to ensure that our participation/attendance in major international events contributes optimally to A Better World outcomes. • Providing external expert analysis and briefing material related to nutrition and food systems as required. • Technical input In the area of knowledge management and research, to strengthen and improve DCAD’s understanding and knowledge base for more effective programme decisions and policy engagement.
