Description
NEW AG is a municipal utility company with strong roots in the Lower Rhine region. The group of companies includes several subsidiaries in Mönchengladbach, Erkelenz, Geilenkirchen, Grevenbroich, Viersen, Schwalmtal and Tönisvorst. NEW Netz supplies around 400,000 customers with electricity, around 150,000 with gas and around 100,000 with water. NEW Netz stands for a partnership-based, regional and innovative energy and water supply and related services. Regional services include local public transport with 245 buses and the operation of eleven indoor and outdoor swimming pools. On behalf of the cities of Mönchengladbach and Viersen, NEW Netz also operates the approximately 1,740-kilometer-long public sewer network. NEW Netz supports cultural, social and sporting projects in the region. With around 2,400 employees, NEW Netz is a major employer.
NEW Netz GmbH is a network operator which is responsible for municipal supply on the basis of existing concession agreements. The current concession area comprises 18 municipalities including independent cities and includes around 14,000 kilometers of road network. The range of tasks includes the areas of planning, construction and maintenance as well as the operation and administration of the network structure. NEW Netz GmbH employs around 700 people, who work every day to cover the diverse range of tasks. In addition to New Netz GmbH (based in Geilenkirchen), which is part of the NEW AG Group, the Group comprises several subsidiaries spread across individual cities and municipalities.
