Description
Nelson Regional Sewerage System Operations Contract - Advanced Notice
The Nelson Regional Sewerage Business Unit (NRSBU) is a joint committee of the Tasman District and Nelson City Councils and manages the Regional Sewerage Scheme. The NRSBU treats municipal wastes (mainly domestic sewage) from Nelson City, Stoke, Tahunanui, Richmond, Wakefield, Brightwater (the Waimea Basin) and Mapua as well as industrial wastewater from Alliance Nelson, ENZA Food, and Nelson Pine Industries. The Nelson Regional Sewerage Scheme (NRSS) includes 15.5km of rising mains, 4 pump stations, the Bells Island sewerage treatment plant (STP) and Rabbit Island biosolids application facility.
For more information visit the NRSBU's web site,
www.nrsbu.govt.nz.
The NRSBU is planning to seek proposals from suitably qualified contractors to operate the Nelson Regional Sewerage System. NRSBU is seeking a collaborative partnering relationship with the selected contractor. This means that all parties will work together to achieve efficient and effective operation of the NRSS.
The contract works are expected to comprise:
• Operation and maintenance of the Bells Island Wastewater Treatment Plant
• Operation and maintenance of the rising mains and pump stations that comprise the reticulation component of the Nelson Regional Sewerage System
• Completion of a proportion of the renewals and possibly capital projects that are completed on NRSS.
The contract works will not cover the application of biosolids on Rabbit Island.
A formal request for proposals will be issued in late February or early March 2020 via GETS and/or TenderLink.
