Description
Climate protection is a priority in the environmental policy of BMU and UBA. With measurements at the Zugspitze Global Station, the Federal Environment Agency has taken on an important part of the German contribution to global atmospheric monitoring (GAW). GAW is the essential measuring programme for the atmosphere within the framework of the worldwide global climate observation programme GCOS of the UN/WMO. The aim of GAW, and within the framework of this programme also of UBA, is to measure and interpret the chemical composition of the atmosphere, aerosols and physical parameters on a long-term basis at a high quality level. The data are used, among other things, for research into atmospheric trends, for improved forecasting models, for ground calibration of satellite measurements and for advice and evaluation in climate policy measures (e.g. Montreal Protocol or Kyoto Protocol)..Since 2013, UBA has been carrying out measurements of halogenated climate-impacting trace gases at the Zugspitze site. The determination of climate-impacting halogenated trace gases in outdoor air is an essential part of the GAW measurement programme and comparable in importance to measurements of carbon dioxide and methane.High-quality measurements of these trace gases are very costly and cannot be carried out by the GAW Zugspitze staff alone. Therefore, we are looking for a partner to carry out the measurements of climate-impacting halogenated trace gases at the GAW train head.
The goal is to assist GAW Station personnel in measuring climate-altering halogenated trace gases at the GAW train apex. The measurement of halogenated hydrocarbons is to be carried out and adapted on an already existing system. The contract is divided into three lots (Lot I - Technical maintenance of the system, Lot II - Standards, adaptations, IT and analytical support; Lot III - Scientific evaluations), so that the lots can be offered and contracted separately as partial services (if necessary also by different contractors). The background to this is the high complexity of the measurements and evaluation, so that it may not be possible for all requirements to be met in full by one supplier..For details of the individual lots, please refer to the tender documents, in particular the specifications together with the annexes..Contract period: 48 months 01/2022 to 01/2026
