The project is to upgrade, operate and maintain Kawthoung airport in the Tanintharyi region.

The work includes an upgrade of the airport terminal building.

You will need to build new airport facilities including, but not limited to:

- taxiways
- aprons
- a control tower
- cargo buildings

The first phase of the upgrade involves setting up facilities for:

- customs
- immigration
- quarantine

Other facilities will be added in the second phase of the project.

When completed the airport will be able to take international, cargo and charter flights.
