Description

A large scale project in Saudi Arabia is focused on building a new model for sustainable living. Recognizing Saudi Arabia’s climate and its diverse terrain, the buyer is seeking top talent from around the world to push the boundaries of innovation by providing a technology or solution to one or more problem statements.

Qualifications

UK companies of all sizes are invited to apply, however, they must be in good financial standing to be successful. For smaller companies and startups, they must have a minimum viable product, funding, and be able to demonstrate their capabilities. Startups with products at an idea stage will not be considered.

Problem statements

Manual tree planting and watering methods are labour-intensive and limited. This has necessitated the need for automated, low-cost solutions for large numbers of trees and efficient irrigation methods are needed to optimize tree growth.

Soils in re-greening areas have low nutrients and poor water holding capacity. This requires effective soil augmentation, inoculation options, visibility into planting success and tree health calls for real-time monitoring to optimize programs.

Passive re-greening is a novel method in Saudi Arabia, requiring automated, low-cost solutions for planting in remote areas.

Procuring high quantities of a variety of native plant seeds and material is challenging through conventional methods. Conventional nursery production systems are labour-intensive and limit scale, necessitating automated, low-cost solutions that have holding space for 6 million plants a year.

A system of drones can be autonomously deployed for monitoring wildlife. This includes the development of a heat sensor to track animals and the transmission of monitoring data from the field.

Due to the cost and range limitations of current tracking techniques such as radios and collars, scalable and cost-effective alternatives are needed to follow wildlife across large landscapes.

Manual data retrieval from remote camera traps is inefficient, calling for automated monitoring data transmission and real-time alerts.

The current method for accurately estimating population sizes and trends at scale is insufficient, necessitating the development of new data collection and analysis solutions.

Manual fence and boundary patrols have limited coverage, necessitating wide area monitoring for real-time awareness of breaches and visitor access.

Limited visibility into unauthorized activities across a large reserve calls for expanded capabilities to detect and track incidents such as poaching, littering, and vegetation damage.
