Description
On 5.11.2018, the city of Bad Vilbel received the notice of admission from the Hessian Ministry of Economics, Transport and Regional Development to the urban development promotion programme "Active Core Areas in Hesse", which is a new instrument to strengthen the distinctiveness and urban life in the core areas of Hesse with its diversity of retail, services, crafts, culture, gastronomy, public uses and housing. As a first step in the implementation of the programme, the City of Bad Vilbel commissioned the development of an "Integrated Urban Development Concept" (ISEK), which defines the objectives and measures of the programme in Bad Vilbel on the basis of an analytical evaluation. The following points were named in the application for the programme:- creation of quality of stay in Frankfurter Strasse and in the Kurpark,- strengthening of the supply functions taking into account the city of Bad Vilbel, the city districts as well as for the northern city districts of Frankfurt and the southern Wetterau,- strengthening of the cultural function,- implementation of alternative mobility concepts,- expansion of the blue and green infrastructure to prevent inner-city heat build-up in the summer months; if necessary, the development of a new infrastructure for the city's public transport system. further measures for the renaturation of the Nidda, - promotion of communal housing, - reduction of greenhouse gases, - measures for climate adaptation. The IUDC will contain a catalogue of measures, the implementation of which is intended to achieve a sustainable vitalisation of the inner city. The establishment of a core area management system is mentioned here as an essential measure. The core area management is the central pivot of the implementation of the IUDC's measures. The core area management networks the actors, measures and instruments as well as the funding structures and coordinates the areas of action that arise.
