Description

A reputable Finnish University is looking to procure a high current DC Power Supply 1160 A/180 V (210 kW) for a cyclotron.

The minimum requirements for the contract are:

1)Offer includes one high current DC power supply having at least the following maximum
output rating: 1160 A/180 V (210 kW),
2) Long term (8 hours) DC output drift/stability ± 10 ppm or better.
3) Line regulation:
± 10 % input voltage change, slow (time scale > 1 min): < 5 ppm output current
± 1 % input voltage change, fast (time scale > 5 ms): < 5 ppm output current
4) Load regulation: ±10 % resistance change (T>1 min): < 5 ppm output current
5) Suitable for laboratory voltages: - Main voltage 400 VAC at 50 Hz (3-phase).
- Control voltage: 230 VAC at 50 Hz
6) Total Power Factor P(F) has to be at least 0.8: PF > 0.8.
7) Efficiency E has to be at least 0.85: E ≥ 0.85 (note quality points for better efficiency).
8) Water cooled. Cooling water pressure requirements:
- Max. absolute static pressure: ≥ 10 bar (inlet water pressure)
- Outlet water pressure: ≈ 2 bar
- Minimum differential pressure: 4 bar
- Test pressure: ≥ 12 bar
9) The Supply has a local control panel including at least the most critical operation
functions like ON/OFF button, local/remote control, current settings. Display shows at
least the (monitor) current and voltage values. Interlocks and malfunctions are indicated.
10) Computer interface: RS485/422. Ethernet IP available (price of Ethernet interface shall
be mentioned if optional). In documentation the communication protocol and software
commands are included to connect the Supply with the laboratory control system.
Documentation is available within 4 weeks after the signature of contract.
11) Current ramp up and ramp down time: From 0 to 1160 A and from 1160 A to 0 A at 5-10
minutes is possible.
12) Polarity switch controlled both locally and remotely.

13) PS continuously tunable from 0 A to maximum current. Resolution:
- Current setting: 16 bit or better
- Current readback: 14 bit or better
14) Adequate safety protection: the Supply has following interlocks:
- AC input voltage failure
- DC output over current
- Earth leakage
- Excessive temperature of high power components
- Cooling water failure (flow switch)
- Cabinet door open
- External inputs for interlocks.
15) Documentation includes instructions for installation, commissioning and maintenance.
16) The supplier must guarantee that the spare parts and other maintenance are available
for at least ten years after the purchase.
17) Remote support is free of charge.
18) Warranty of at least 18 months.
19) Delivery time of 6 months or less (note quality points for shorter delivery time)
