Description
In 2017 the Norwegian Environment Agency instructed Avinor to clear PFOS polluted ground at Harstad/Narvik Airport Evenes through the establishment of a water treatment facility for treating run-off from the former fire training area (BØF) to the west of the runway. The scope of various measures were considered as regards site implementation and waste management, as well as the costs of implementing the measures. Avinor decided to carry out the most comprehensive alternative, in which all known PFOS pollution is removed through the measure.
The extent of the delivery:Polluted matter must be excavated to the west of the runway at Evenes Airport and delivered to a certified facility.Execution period: December 2020 to the end of March 2021.Completion deadline: end of March 2021. The execution period is dependent on the amount of frost in the ground.Avinor has also been instructed to review the restoration of the marsh area affected by the measure. A separate plan for the marsh restoration has been prepared, including a description ofThe excavation and the temporary storage of donor marsh before the measure is carried out (to be done before the excavation starts), as well as laying out the donor marsh (carried out as part of the excavation contract).
