Description
This specific contract notice is part of the ongoing Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) 22-SAD-S002-GO "Green Overseas Expertise Network". Operators are invited to integrate the DPS in order to bid when the call for tender is published on the French procurement platform “PLACE” by 12/02/2024 at the latest.
The pilot project globally aims at fostering the use of hydroponics in schools and communities through the equipment of eight schools in hydroponic systems, the development of a Train-the-trainer's course and the training of the schools’ personnel and community members. Trained trainers will be equipped with techniques, skills and knowledge in hydroponics drip systems, as well as training materials, that they can share to others in the community. The pilot project, if successful, replicated and upscaled, could contribute to enhance Sint Maarten’s food security and climate change resilience by reducing its dependence on imported food, thereby ensuring more stable and secure food supply, even in the face of climate-related disruptions to global trade and transportation.Expected duration of the assignment is 24 weeks and it is expected from the service provider to spend significant time in Sint Maarten to carry-out the activities. The total number of working days is estimated at around 100.The following expertise is required:-Hydroponics systems design, installation, maintenance and crop production;-Project management incl. planning, execution, reporting, quality control, risk management, M&E and communication. Specific experience and skills are required in the following areas:-Proficiency in written and spoken English;-Training facilitation and capacity-building;-Collaborative work with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, schools, and the local community;-Communication and knowledge transfer;-Multimedia (recording and editing training sessions and a 3-minute video summarizing the project).Additional informationAdditional assets are:-Knowledge of the Caribbean region and of Sint Maarten; -Experience in developing and implementing educational initiatives, preferably in hydroponics or agriculture;-Experience in conducting train-the-trainer programs;-Previous engagement in collaborative projects with government bodies and educational institutions;-Understanding of climate change resilience and its implications for agriculture.Estimated date of publication of contract notice:14/02/2024
