Building on internationally recognized scientific expertise, the institute plans to establish a test center for safety-relevant research on aerospace structures that is unique in Europe, the so-called DLR Center for Crash and Impact Test (CITE).In CITE, large components as well as small aircraft, helicopters or air-taxis will be tested on a full scale, thus enabling their certification on an experimental basis. Crash tests focus on the impact of aircraft on the ground, impact tests, for example, on the impact of artificial birds or hail on impact-relevant aircraft areas. The test conditions should be highly reproducible and thus meet the highest demands in terms of test and measurement requirements.The development of CITE includes the development and procurement of novel and thus unique test facilities and the construction of laboratories/halls in the vicinity of the institute's location in Stuttgart to house these facilities.To support the CITE project management, an 'Owner's Engineer' is sought in the DLR CITE project.
