With a length of 7,916 m, the Rennsteig Tunnel is the longest road tunnel in Germany and forms the heart of the A71 "Kammquerung Thüringer Wald" tunnel chain, which consists of a total of 4 tunnels (Tunnel Alte Burg 876 m; Tunnel Rennsteig 7,916 m; Tunnel Hochwald 1.056 m and Tunnel Berg Bock 2,738 m).After 20 years under traffic, the Rennsteig Tunnel requires maintenance and repair work on the structure, in particular on the tunnel inner shell, the carriageway, the emergency walkways, the drainage system and all shaft covers. Furthermore, the entire technical tunnel equipment must be renewed, i.e. completely replaced.For the implementation of these measures, a variant study is to be prepared that considers or examines in depth the following aspects for the entire construction period:-variants for traffic routing-construction period ventilation concept-variants for the construction of the structure-execution options for the renewal of the technical tunnel equipment-safety assessment and hazard prevention criteriaThere are close interactions between all these points. For the individual points of the investigation, at least five variants are to be drawn up, combined into several possible construction scenarios and evaluated in terms of their interactions. From these variants the best variant is to be derived, which forms the optimum between the lowest possible impairment of traffic, the shortest possible construction time, the lowest possible construction costs, while guaranteeing traffic and tunnel safety and ensuring hazard prevention.The time sequences, e.g. several construction phases with coordination of the construction and engineering trades, are also to be investigated and mapped.The individual points are to be worked out by appropriately experienced specialist planners or experts.Only expert services or consulting services are to be provided. The start of the investigation period is 10.04.2024. The deadline for submission of the complete variant investigation is 20.12.2024.
