Description

The road scheme will comprise of overlay and reconstruction (inlay) and online widening of the existing single carriageway, with the construction of a 2.5m wide cycle track adjacent to the existing road. The total length of the scheme is 2600m. The major elements of the works include the establishment, maintenance, and removal of traffic management for the Works, Fencing, Drainage, Earthworks, Pavement Works, Eir Temporary and Permanent Diversions, Road Restraint Systems, Kerbing, Footways and Cycle path. The Works also include; Earthworks to include excavate and replace, Peat, Rock cut, Surcharge placement and settlement monitoring, Realignment of R262 Regional road junction, and numerous direct accesses onto the N56, Services ducts for Utilities providers and Irish Water Watermain works, Liaising with statutory bodies such as, EIR, the National Parks and Wildlife Services and Fisheries Ireland, Road marking Signing and Roadstuds, Collation of information for inclusion in the safety file for the project. Implementation of Environmental controls and mitigation measures in accordance with the Environmental Operating Plan in Appendix 1/34. Due to the environmentally sensitive nature of the Site (proximity to Freshwater Pearl Mussel Ecology), the Contractor shall ensure environmental Works are carried out.
