Description

The Société du parc industriel et portuaire de Bécancour (SPIPB) is planning to build several battery manufacturing and recycling plants as part of its "Battery Strategy" development plan. As part of this development, SPIPB must bring its domestic wastewater treatment system up to standard. The new treatment system is to be built on the site of the existing non-aerated pond, so it is necessary to install equipment for the temporary treatment of wastewater that will continue to be directed to the domestic sewer system during the work, and to drain and dismantle the existing pond before the new treatment system can be built there.
The mandate includes the following components
Construction of a temporary treatment system including :

Installation of two ballasted floc settling units and two bar screens, pre-selected and priced between the Company and two Suppliers;
Supply and installation of temporary pumping and treatment equipment at the existing PR-3 lift station;
Management and disposal of sludge generated by temporary treatment, including dewatering, if deemed necessary by the Contractor;
Installation of an above-ground outfall pipe to the existing watercourse.

Construction of a permanent wastewater treatment system on the site of the existing pond:

Emptying of existing pond;
Drain sludge from existing pond;
Dismantling of existing pond and outfall;
Construction of new aerated earthen ponds on the site of the existing non-aerated pond;
Construction of a steel technical building to house treatment equipment on the site of the existing non-aerated pond;
Construction of a suspension packed biological reactor (SPBR) treatment system, in a concrete tank, on the site of the existing non-aerated pond;
Construction of a control manhole;
Construction of a transfer pumping station attached to the service building;
Construction of an ultraviolet disinfection system;
Relocation and installation of temporary equipment in the new technical building, i.e. the two ballasted floc settling units and the two bar screens pre-selected and priced between the Company and two Suppliers;
Construction of interconnection and aeration pipes;
Construction of a force main between the existing PR-3 lift station and the new treatment system;
Construction of a perimeter fence around the treatment site.
Construction of a wastewater outfall.

Operation of temporary equipment installed for a period extending from spring 2024 until completion of construction of the permanent treatment system, including sludge management and disposal.
