Jamaica - Design of replacement recycle gas compressors

Description

Petrojam Limited is seeking proposals from experienced consultants for consultancy services for design of replacement recycle gas compressors (C-1A/1B). To this end, experienced consultants are invited to submit proposals to undertake said assessment on behalf of Petrojam Limited.

Petrojam’s refinery currently uses 2 reciprocating compressors (C-1A and C-1B, each 250hp) in the recycle gas service of the reformer unit. Both compressors have exceeded their useful life and need to be replaced. The replacement being considered is not a replacement in kind, but ones that should provide improved operational reliability, increased run length, reduced operational and maintenance expenses and improved safety conditions on the process unit.

The work required includes but is not limited to the following, and shall conform to the specifications outlined in the terms of reference document:

a) Specify new compressors to replace existing reciprocating recycle gas compressors C-1A/1B, to satisfy the production requirements as outlined in the terms of reference (ToR). All design works must be in conformance to API 618/617/619 standard and other relevant codes and specifications, including those outlined herein and in the ToR.

The expected completion for design work is 8 weeks (56 Calendar days).

b) Provide on-sight technician for commissioning, start-up and training in maintenance and operation of the units.

c) Facilitate knowledge transfer to Petrojam personnel (includes 5-day visit to Petrojam Facility).

d) Proposal validity period shall be 120 calendar days. Using information provided by Petrojam, define process, mechanical, material, instrumentation and electrical specifications for an upgraded recycle gas compressor set for Petrojam’s power-former circuit. The type/construction of the compressor most suitable for the process shall be recommended by the consultant based on data provided by Petrojam, the consultant’s experience, and long term experience by other refineries using similar equipment in a similar application.

The consultant is also required to carry out process simulations to identify “bottlenecks” that may exist in the power-former circuit equipment and affected equipment with the application of the upgraded gas flow requirements.

The consultant shall recommend changes to resolve bottlenecks or avoid conflict with the process limitations. Petrojam will provide operating parameters, process flow, pipeline size, and equipment data as simulation inputs, as best as possible.
