Kitchen equipment.
The canteen building of the Karlsruhe Transport Authority (VBK) is located in Karlsruhe, at the corner of Tullastraße and Gerwigstraße. There are several buildings on the premises in the immediate vicinity. The building consists of 3 floors, a basement, ground floor and upper floor. The ground floor is partly built over, except for the kitchen itself and the toilet facilities. There is the flat roof directly above. The dining room has no basement. All other rooms on the ground floor do, however. In the basement there are essentially only storerooms/archives, rooms with technical use and rooms used by the kitchen (e.g. cold storage rooms). The heating system and water distribution system are also located around the basement. The ground floor essentially consists of the kitchen with adjoining rooms, scullery and cold storage rooms, the dining room/casino with stage, an entrance area with café, a meeting room and a toilet block. After the conversion, the changing rooms for the kitchen staff, a toilet wing, offices and a ventilation system will be located on the upper floor. The building consists of reinforced concrete / masonry walls, supplemented with drywall walls. The ceilings of the basement and ground floor are also made of reinforced concrete, stiffened with reinforced concrete beams in heights of approx. 20-60 cm. The ceilings of the upper floor in the area of the staff area are also made of solid reinforced concrete with beams. Only the dining room has a roof construction made of steel, as well as stiffening steel constructions on the walls to form a solid construction. Due to the enlargement of the kitchen area and redesign of the dining hall, profound changes in all technical areas are necessary. As the electrical and information technology equipment is in a poor condition and the new fire protection report also requires new equipment technology, the building will be largely renovated. The complete kitchen technology, including the kitchen ventilation system and the water and waste water supply will be renewed.
