Description
McMaster University is seeking to retain the services of a qualified Consultant team with a Mechanical Engineer acting as Prime Consultant to provide consulting services for the design and contract administration for the Nuclear Reactor Heat Recovery project at McMaster University’s Nuclear Reactor (NR) (Building 15). Qualified proponents are invited to submit responses in accordance with the terms of this Request for Proposal. Refer to the CCDC 31 contract with McMaster supplemental conditions. The nuclear reactor on the McMaster campus is a multi-purpose reactor that provides neutrons for research and medical isotope production. It is the most powerful research reactor and the only major neutron source in Canada. It has a current rating of 5 MW. Due to the low-grade heat produced by the reactor, the heat must dissipate to the atmosphere through a set of cooling towers. There is a potential to capture this heat and use it for pre-heating in adjacent buildings.
