Description
This project involves the construction of an 80 bed HIQA compliant Community Nursing Unit (CNU) as an extension (New Build: 4,545m2) to the Sheil Hospital, located on College Street on the Eastern edge of Ballyshannon Town, Co. Donegal. The 80 beds will consist of 66 single bedrooms and 7 twin bedrooms in a combination of Long Stay, Short Stay and Dementia Wards. The project also includes the upgrade of the existing building (2,127m2)to accommodate a Day hospital amongst other ancillary services. The existing Sheil Community Hospital(protected structure) is a 19th Century brick building over four floors. The works also comprise extensive external works including a new Public access road linking to the Market yard car park, CNU carparking for staff and visitors, plant rooms and out buildings, retaining structures, boundary enclosures and hard and soft landscaped areas.It is intended that the works will be executed on a live Healthcare campus, however during the initial phases the patients and staff will be decanted off site to a temporary modular facility for the construction phase of the works, Multiple Phases will be required to deliver the works whilst maintaining high levels of patient, care, health and safety and dignity.The contracting authority intend to procure :— main works contractor, — reserved specialist — mechanical ,— reserved specialist — electrical,— reserved specialist — modular building .
