Description
In addition to the zoo's own local heating network and planned refrigeration machines, the tropical hall will be supplied with heat and cold by means of near-surface geothermal energy.
In addition to the zoo's own local heating network and cooling machines, the tropical hall will be supplied with heat and cold by means of near-surface geothermal energy, for which purpose two geothermal probe fields consisting of 12 and 22 geothermal probes with a depth of 250 m each (total drilling depth 8,500 m) will be constructed on the construction site of the future tropical hall. The geothermal energy will be conducted via two distribution shafts to the future heating centre in the north-east of the Tropical Hall and made usable there by means of heat pumps. 625,000 kWh,- Heating capacity: 208 kW,- Cooling capacity: 200,000 kWh,- Brine flow rate (total): 59.5 m3/h,In preparation for the drilling of the borehole heat exchangers, earthworks will be carried out in the area of the borehole heat exchangers. The aim is to create a subgrade, earthworks for accompanying measures: Parallel to the construction work a 10 kV line running across the construction site is being dismantled and re-laid.
