Description
The Code Review Committee (the committee) is appointed by the Minister to provide ongoing venue to review and recommend revisions to the Health, Safety and Reclamation Code for Mines in British Columbia (the Code). The committee strives to provide consensus recommendations that modernize the Code and make improvements to the health and safety for workers, the public and the environment. The Code Review Secretariat (the Secretariat) is housed in the Mines Health, Safety and Enforcement division, and their main role is to support the Code Review Committee and related sub-committees and task groups. The Secretariat is looking for a Certified Canadian Professional Ergonomist (CCPE), Board Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) or a company to provide subject matter expertise and guidance to our Occupational Health & Safety sub-committee related to ergonomics. The current Code sections related to ergonomics are not written to effectively promote the implementation of comprehensive ergonomics programs and does not require management to evaluate ergonomic hazards in the workplace unless there is an injury. Recommendations developed by the sub-committee will be presented to the Code Review Committee for considerations for update the Code. Further details as to the scope of this opportunity and the requirements can be found within this RFP.
