Description

The Queensland Mental Health Commission is seeking Proposals for an initiative that aims to reduce and prevent alcohol and other drug (AOD) related harms to culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities. 
This project will commission a provider to:

working with partner organisations and the local communities to co‑design the approach to address identified needs
deliver the project over a 2-year timeframe
evaluate the project.

The Commission will select 2 applicants who will be required to deliver an initiative that contributes to one or more of the following:

reduce barriers to CALD people engaging with and accessing AOD services – including community level, service level and system level factors
reduce stigma, discrimination and attitudes towards AOD use in CALD communities
prevention of problematic AOD use by addressing the complex issues that drive AOD use in CALD communities
improve cultural capability of services, including addressing limited availability and utilisation of language services and improved provider capability to understand the role of culture, religion and spirituality in AOD support
increase utilisation of peers/community members in delivering AOD prevention, early intervention and harm reduction supports
improve culturally appropriate approaches to delivery of harm reduction education and support
intervene early to address AOD use and harm among young CALD people using culturally appropriate approaches.
