Description

A multilateral funding agency is funding a project to develop 462 hectares (ha) of riparian land into a sustainable urban centre. The project is worth around $5.1 miliion.

The PIC will support the project implementation unit (PIU) for 54 months. They will be responsible for assisting the PIU to:

• review and confirm designs and complete bid documents of remaining contract packages to be awarded under phase 1 and phase 2
• procure, mobilise, manage and supervise all contracts and act as the 'Engineer' for phase 1
• recruit, mobilise, and manage consultants for the biodiversity monitoring and bench marking study (BMBMS)
• prepare financing and other necessary documents for phase 2 investments
• provide technical and management advice
• manage and administer project financing
• prepare routine reporting requirements
• help with knowledge transfer to the PIU and local municipality.

The PIC should have the following staff members:

• chief resident engineer / team leader
• senior civil engineer / deputy team leader
• material engineer / engineering geologist
• contract specialist
• quality control / construction manager
• geotechnical engineer
• environmental specialist

The project aims to:

- provide flood protection
- construct smart urban infrastructure to allow phased urban expansion
- develop a modern township on sustainable principles and integrate it into the existing municipality
- provide space for public services such as health facilities and schools, and commercial businesses
