Description

The Bischofkurie Domplatz 1 was built in the 16th century by Bishop Julius von Pflug in the Renaissance style. The curia was used by the respective canons and redesigned several times. A special component of the building complex is the curia garden with courtyard area, garden room and garden wall. The garden and the courtyard are to be restored in their structure. Bishop's garden and courtyard: The entire outdoor area with courtyard and historical garden has an area of approx. 3,200 sqm. Historical planning documents are available for the garden and courtyard. The garden and the courtyard are to be restored in their structure and included in the overall use of the World Heritage Information Centre. This also includes the revitalisation of the fountain and the listed pavilion in the rear garden area and the restoration of the surrounding walls. A further component of the project is the construction of a new lapidarium in the courtyard area. At present the yard is used as an employee car park. The garden area and the pavilion are in poor condition. The entire complex is listed as a historical monument. The aim is to restore the garden landscape with historical and contemporary elements to improve the quality of the stay and extend the length of stay for visitors and tourists. The Kuriengarten is part of the overall concept of the Information Centre World Cultural Heritage Domplatz 1.
