Description
Due to its diverse history, the Renaissance castle Wewelsburg is an outstanding and supra-regionally important architectural monument in the care of the district of Paderborn. The Wewelsburg is to be surveyed completely digitally using the latest technology - both inside and out. This will be based on digital surveying technology, which is already being used in the real estate and mining sectors. Reliable data will be generated with the help of photo drones, 360° panorama cameras and state-of-the-art 3D laser scanners. The data is used to create a comprehensive 3D model of Wewelsburg Castle with exterior and interior perspectives. This data will be used for building management to create the BIM (Building Information Modeling) and to calculate building areas, perimeter and other purposes.
Through the BIM "Building Information Modeling" all relevant building data is digitally modeled, combined and recorded. It is virtually a digital twin. The data will also be used beyond the technical benefits in the technological field for a digital, contemporary mediation of culturally interesting, historical content for the Kreismuseum Wewelsburg, which is located in the Wewelsburg. The results of the 3D laser scanner building survey will serve as the basis for interactive 3D animations and programs that will convey various construction phases of the Renaissance castle and the diverse history of the Paderborn region. With the help of the 3D animations and interactive computer programs, innovative, previously unused media mediation channels are to be created to appeal to the young, digitally affine generation of visitors to the county museum. In addition, the data will be used to develop and design barrier-free access for people with disabilities. The project includes the following work packages (excerpts only, please refer to the specifications for further details):1. Acquisition of raw data in the outdoor area - through high-resolution 3D scans with the photo drone; the image data must be in color; completion no later than Nov. 30, 2022 2. Acquisition of raw data in the interior - by means of high-resolution 3D scans with a laser scanner; the image data must be in color; in addition, photographic documentation of selected rooms;completion no later than 11/30/2022 3. Object recordings in 3D for selected exhibitsSelected exhibits (approx. 25 pieces) of the museum will be recorded by means of scanner and 3D camera. It should be possible to transfer the images into the collection management system (Adlib) for better visualization of the exhibits. The vendor will provide the necessary data transfer for this purpose. 4. creation of a building model in BIMOn the basis of the raw 3D data created in work packages 1 and 2, a 3D building model will be created in BIM. The resulting "digital twin" of the Wewelsburg can be displayed in ArchiCAD. Some parts of the building are located behind double walls and behind exhibition fixtures. These cannot be evaluated by the scanner and must be entered manually. 6. VR discovery tour with the museum mascot FalkoA comprehensive interactive computer program is to be developed through which the visitors of the Wewelsburg can go on a discovery tour with the museum mascot "Falko". By means of virtual reality (VR) goggles, the visitor can accompany the museum mascot Falko on his sightseeing flight over the Wewelsburg and a tour through the museum department. Controllers will be used to provide an individual control option. 7. 3D visualizations of 5 selected exhibits3D visualizations of 5 exhibits selected by the client for in-depth communication of content within the museum using stationary media stations with augmented reality (AR) glasses. 8. creation of an interactive media unit by means of an app for the representation of epochs (4 time periods: Middle Ages, Renaissance period, 19th century, 1933-1945) with virtual models of the Wewelsburg. Visitors should be given the opportunity to download the content in the foyer for their private smartphones. 9. creation of a virtual exhibition spaceThe otherwise inaccessible cellar room under the southwest tower (Norbertsloch) is to become a virtual exhibition space that can be temporarily equipped by artists with digital art. 3D artists should be given the opportunity to virtually design the rooms. 10) Creation of barrier-free virtual tours/viewsCreation of virtual tours/views of rooms that enable participation, for example, for wheelchair users, people with limited mobility, or for rooms that are generally not accessible. For this purpose, the survey and photo data are processed for the creation of virtual tours (3D views, animations of otherwise inaccessible rooms). The virtual tour will be produced in a format that can be displayed on a touch screen monitor in the entrance area of the museum. 11. creating animations for the county museum's homepageAn animated film will be created for the county museum's website to give a taste of the virtual experiences to be expected. In the film the created animations (e.g. sightseeing flight over the Wewelsburg, 3D tours, 3D exhibition objects) will be presented briefly. 12. creating animations for the fire departmentIn the digitally created twin of the Wewelsburg, this work package will incorporate the escape routes of the current fire protection and escape route concept in such a way that animations can be created that enable a 3D representation with fire protection-relevant content of rooms in the Wewelsburg.
