Australia - Analytics for the Australian Grains Industry (AAGI)

Description

The research, development, and extension (R,D&E) GRDC invests in relies on the scientific method that uses analytics to turn raw data into knowledge. By supporting grains R,D&E with fit for purpose analytics, Australian grain growers have benefitted from outcomes such as:

Better germplasm selections from pre-breeding programs
Experimental designs leading to a clear answer about the recommended agronomic practices
Tools that use data to support decisions

Since 2016, GRDC has successfully invested in Statistics for the Australian Grains Industry 3 (SAGI3). This represented $23.8M in GRDC cash investment and $17.6M in co-investor salaries and in-kind. In 2019, GRDC anticipated the industry’s emerging analytics needs and made additional investments in machine learning (ML) and data fusion projects.
Now, GRDC wishes to make a consolidated investment across statistics, ML, data fusion, and other analytics. This investment will be dubbed Analytics for the Australian Grains industry (AAGI) and based on current investment GRDC expects to invest in the order of $25M over the next five years. AAGI’s Mission will be:
To use analytics on grains data to help Australian grain growers to be more profitable and globally competitive.
GRDC seeks Expressions of Interest from parties interested in participating in a multi-stage procurement process for AAGI.
