Description

The aim of the project is to convert the SF6 25KV distribution switches. These two circuit breakers supply the McLennan and Redpath library pavilions, as well as the Bronfman and Armstrong pavilions.
McGill University's downtown campus is supplied by several Hydro-Québec medium-voltage lines that form a series of medium-voltage loops. A large part of the campus is supplied by the "Rutherford - McLennan" loop. Two medium-voltage lines enter the Hydro-Québec disconnect chamber, from where a single line enters the McLennan electrical substation in electrical room MB032. In this room, the existing 4-way electrical cabinet (Joslyn type with SF6 insulating gas) (two switches, two circuit breakers) is to be replaced by two motorized MVS (medium-voltage switchgear) distribution cabinets and two motorized MVI (molded vacuum interrupters, i.e. circuit breakers with protection units for transformers and lines). These two circuit breakers supply the McLennan and Redpath library pavilions, as well as the Bronfman and Armstrong pavilions.
